Mitchell Mcmillan

Mitchell “Tank” McMillan, age 59, of Baxley passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at his residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice.

Mr. McMillan was born July 22, 1962 in Appling County and was a motor grader operator for 27 years with the Appling County Road Department. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Alvin McMillan.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Griffin McMillan of Baxley; mother, Lucille Lightsey Salter of Baxley; sisters, Michelle (Kevin) Hunter and Cathy Parlor (Joe Henry) both of Baxley; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Wendell Griffin, Harry & Joan Griffin, Randall & Cathy Branch, Cecil & Karen Griffin, Richard Griffin,Tim & Sandy Griffin, Carlos & Julie Griffin, Mary Ellen Smith, Sarah & Ronnie Boatright, Janie Cummings, Debbie Branch, and Donna Parlor; best friend & brother, Alain “Frenchy” Girard. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, & nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. David Barber, & Rev. Tommy Daniels officiating and eulogies will be rendered by Vic Brantley, Chris Horton, James Fennell, and Joey Hiers. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Harry Griffin, James Fennell, Greg Beecher, Hunter Griffin, Alan Smith, Brian Crosby, Cody Parlor, Wesley Mincey, Joseph Lightsey, Lonnie Weaver, Richie McMillan, Richard Griffin, Tim Griffin, Carlos Griffin, Tadd Sharpe, and Jeremy Lightsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Commissioners and Staff of the Appling County Board of Commissioners, Past and Present Employees of the Appling County Road Department, Chris Horton, Jeff Herrington, Sylvie Girard, Paula Fennell, Ruth Dawson, Delmus Hale, Roger Orvin, Dean & Karen Collins, Mark & Carol Barnes, Bill & Wanda Reynolds, Rev. Tommy & Diane Daniels, Jimmy & Jamie Bohannon, Ted Craven, Glenn & Belinda Johnson, Willie & Angie Tillman, Lynn White, Randy & Marsha Thomas, Freddie & Susie McLain, Dr. Clay Carter, Teresa Hiers, Ritchie & Heather Altman, Jesse & Selena Weaver, and Jackie Burkett.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
