Nathan Hale Tillman

Nathan Hale Tillman, age 74, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at his residence.

Nathan was a man who was impossible to forget—because he simply never let you. He was the kind of person who could walk into a room and instantly make it brighter, not just with his presence, but with his laughter, his jokes, and that infectious energy that made even the hardest days feel lighter.

Nathan was born September 8, 1950 in Appling County and was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl & Frankie Me “Poodle” Tillman. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. After retiring from AT & T, he spent approximately ten years as a truck driver.

The morning he passed, he did it in the most “him” way possible—peacefully, after one last cigarette, having shown the people around him love. That was who he was: a man who, no matter what, made sure the people in his life felt loved, even in his final hours.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Tillman of Baxley; daughter, Allison Owen of Taylorsville; sons, Brian Tillman of Calhoun, Paul Hairston and Eric Hairston both of Atlanta; and brothers, Reggie (Kathy) Tillman and David Tillman both of Baxley. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

A celebration of Nathan’s life will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at the Tillman Residence: 1739 Altamaha School Road Baxley, Georgia.

Nathan loved people and in return, people loved him.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
