Nellie Courson Yawn, age 77, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.
Mrs. Yawn was born in Appling County to the late Elisha “Lit” Courson and the late Eula Hayes Courson. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she served in the United Methodist Women, Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and church choir. She was also a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. Mrs. Yawn was an excellent homemaker, loving grandmother, avid gardner and was retired after 32 years as a Cosmetologist.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Yawn was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Zelder.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Lawton Dave Yawn of Baxley; daughter & son in law, Tina & Steven Lord of Tennille; sons & daughters in law, David R. & Christina Yawn of Baxley and Carlos Sammy & Kathleen Yawn of Beverly Hills, FL; sisters, Mary Lou Patton of Hampton, Wilda Ann Crosby and Barbara Reynolds both of Baxley; and brother, Clifton Buddy Courson of Baxley. Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Gale officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be grandsons, Josh Yawn, Cory Dyal, Jarrod Yawn, Caleb Dyal, Tony Merritt and Tyler Merritt.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Hopewell United Methodist Church and Southern Nuclear Employees of Plant Hatch.
Remembrances may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (c/o Joyce Churchville 710 V.P. Lynch Rd., Baxley, GA 31513).
