Paul Thomas Deen

Paul Thomas Deen, age 86, of Baxley died Friday, April 29, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida.


Mr. Deen was born October 26, 1929 in Appling County to the late Emmett Joseph Deen and the late Lenora Waters Deen. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a farmer and textile worker for Milliken and Company.


Survivors include his wife, Matilda Harrelson Deen of Baxley, Georgia; one daughter, Sherrie
(Royce) Dykes of Hazlehurst, Georgia; two sons, Eddie Deen and Junior (Donna) Johnson both of Baxley, Georgia; six grandchildren, Derrick (Alice) Johnson of Baxley, Georgia, Edye Deen of Alma, Georgia, Steven (Shelley) Johnson of Baxley, Georgia, Eric Dykes of Hazlehurst, Georgia, Amy Johnson of Baxley, Georgia, and Emily Dykes of Hazlehurst, Georgia; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Oliver and Rev. Buddy Coss officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.


Active pallbearers will be Donald Youmans, Scott Sumner, Chad Bullard, Ron Harrelson, Keith Morris, and Brandon Harrelson.


Honorary pallbearers will be Hopewell United Methodist Church members and family and friends in attendance.


Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2016, 6:00-8:00 PM at Swain Funeral Home.


Mr. Deen will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
