Paul Morgan Sheffield

July 24, 1934 — August 2, 2015

Paul Sheffield, age 81, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Sheffield was born July 24, 1934 in Appling County to the late Felma Sheffield and the late Dottie Arnold Sheffield. He was a member of the Baxley Church of God and a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sheffield was also a farmer and businessman and was an avid coon hunter. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mitch and Booge Sheffield.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Sheffield of Baxley; daughters, Becky Rainwater of Baxley, Pat Sutton of Odum, and Debbie Hunter of Richmond Hill; son, Richard Sheffield of Pale City, AL; sisters, Grace Craven of Baxley and Roxie Roberts of Savannah; grandchildren, Paul & Victoria Rainwater, Morgan Hunter, Maggie Hunter, Mason Hunter, Aleisha Sheffield, R. J. Sheffield, T.J. & Chelsea Sutton, Madelyn Sutton, and Sabrina Carter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Baxley Church of God with Rev. R. M. Warren, Rev. Lamar Lee, Buddy Delettre, Ed Wheaton, and Michael Paul Rainwater officiating.

Interment will follow in the Zion Church of God Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Baxley Church of God.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Paul Rainwater, T. J. Sutton, Richard Sheffield, R. J. Sheffield, Gary Horton, Bryan Perry, Michael Lewis, Mason Hunter, and Gary "Gutt" May.

Honorary pallbearers will be all coon hunters.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
