Richard “Ricky” Hampton Brewer, age 73, of Lumber City passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas.

Mr. Brewer was born November 21, 1950 in McRae to the late Merritt Brewer and the late Rebbie Toumbleston Brewer. He was a retired supervisor with Hazlehurst Mils and was also formerly employed with Lance Cracker Co. Mr. Brewer was a member of Selton Chapel but attended Lumber City Baptist Church. He was a true, southern family-man who loved working in his yard and enjoyed fishing & spending time with his family. He was also a dedicated member of the McDonalds Coffee Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbert Toumbleston, Howard Brewer, and Thomas M. Brewer, and nephews, Brian Brewer and Silas Crosby.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Parlor Brewer of Lumber City; son, Chad (Camey) Brewer of Hazlehurst; sisters, Diane Coley of Gray and Paulette (Mike) Williams of Hazlehurst; brother, Emory “Buddy” Brewer of Lumber City; grandchildren, Levi Brewer, Carleigh Brewer, and Sadie Jo Brewer all of Hazlehurst. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from Lumber City Baptist Church with Rev. Ashley Tyree and Rev. Glynn Stinson officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Coley, Clay Crosby, Bruce Parlor, Chris Parlor, Brandon Parlor, Daryl Breedlove, Tony Breedlove, and Scott Conner.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
