Robert Anthony Gurley

Robert Anthony Gurley, age 40, of Baxley passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Augusta University Medical Center after an extended illness.

Robert was born January 1, 1983 in Appling County and was employed with Deloach Paint & Body Shop in Valdosta.  He was an avid worker and always put others ahead of himself.  Robert continues to help others, even in his death through organ donation.

Survivors include his parents, Debbie (Herman) Spires and Bobby Wolfe all of Baxley; sisters, Michelle (Kevin) Taylor and Taaffe (Stacy) Crosby both of Baxley; step-sisters, Joy Yeomans of Valdosta, Jenny Day of Pearson, Kim (Shawn) Merritt of Douglas, and Krista Spires of Broxton; niece & nephews, Loni Crosby and Clay (Kassidy) Crosby both of Baxley, Bailey Causey of Everett, Washington, Jerrod Causey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Alex (Sara) Taylor of Baxley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. James Hayes and Rev. Justin McLellan officiating. Interment will follow in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Taylor, Chris Spell, Jerry Causey, Howard Gurley, Paul Deloach & Alex Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Southern Family Walk-in Clinic, Staff of Deloach Paint & Body Shop, Staff of Appling Healthcare Emergency Room, Staff of Neurology ICU of Augusta Medical Center, Dr. Tonya Fordham, Roderick & Freda Gruber & family, Donna White & family, Diane Loughry, Donnie Rentz, Shaun & Kelly Shipes, and the Troupeville Community, and Danny Sherry Spell.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
