Robert Neron Churchville

Robert Neron Churchville, age 84, of Baxley passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Appling Healthcare.

Mr. Churchville was born December 5, 1939 in Bacon County to the late Joe Robert Lee Churchville and the late Vera Inez Smith Churchville.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corp Reserves from 1962 until 1968 with the rank of Corporal. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church but was a faithful supporter of Hopewell United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Churchville owned and operated Red Oak Store for eleven years. He was also a self-employed mechanic and retired as a truck driver with Ryder Incorporated. His passion for cars extended to racing and truck pulling. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Tamplin, and brother, Lewis P. Churchville.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyce L. Churchville of Baxley; daughter, Fonda (Lesley) Dixon of Brunswick; son, Lee (Debra) Churchville of Vidalia; and grandson, Wendall Peebles of Lyons.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Gale and Rev. Calvin Morris officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Wendall Peebles, Rocky Courson, Mike Smith, Dale Lynch, Oliver Eason, and Wayne Crosby.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Tharpe, Eddie Black, Vera Drury, Keith Hilton, members of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Lamar Jones, Crystal Cauley, Paul & Joan Lyles, Altamaha Home Healthcare, Kelli Herrin, Jean Ussery, and Mark & Carole Barnes & Barnes Pharmacy staff.

The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
