Robert Lamar "R.L." Stone

Robert Lamar "R.L." Stone, age 66, of Baxley died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Atlanta.

Mr. Stone was born March 22, 1949 in Bacon County to the late Thomas Richard Stone and the late Velma Ruth Callaway Stone. He was a member of Melton's Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Stone served as the Appling County Tax Appraiser for 31 years and during those 31 years he served on the Board of Appraisers as well as being Chief Appraiser for 27 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Stone.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Stone of Baxley; a son & daughter in law, Scotty & Jessika Stone of Statesboro; three sisters & brothers in law, Sandy & Al Suarez of Macon, Brenda & Rick Berry of Tifton and Lynnette & Norman Mosley of Jesup; two brothers & sisters in law, Mickey & Gay Stone of Baxley and Stanley & Joan Stone of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Logan Wilson and Maddox Stone both of Statesboro.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Zeigler, Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Steve Statum officiating.

Interment will follow in Melton's Chapel Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Rodney Stone, Stacey Stone, Jessie Stone, Bobby Stone, Roger Stone, Randy Stone, Terrell Stone, Tim Stone and Ronnie Stone.

Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
