Ronald Carter

Larry Ronald Carter, age 81, of Baxley, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Carter was born October 21, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Ellis Carter and the late Lolita Lewis Carter. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church and the owner and operator of Ron Carter Taxidermy.  He was a member of the Georgia Taxidermy Association and a recipient of the Georgia Taxidermy Hall of Fame Award.  Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Aycock Carter.

Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Leah & Clay Deen of Baxley; son & daughter-in-law, Ryker & Christy Carter of St. Simons Island; grandchildren, Austin (Maci) Drew, Grant (Rebekah) Drew, LeAnna Drew, Logan Deen, Dylan Deen, Kinsley Carter, Jenna Carter, Dianna Carter, and Alley Carter, and a great grandchild coming in July, Dallen Drew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Baxley Church of God with Rev. Tommy Daniels officiating and a eulogy by Joe Boatright.

Interment will follow in Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Laney Carter, Daniel Edwards, Colby Edwards, Trampis Carter, Yancey Carter, Randy Herndon and Darrell Summerall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff Mark Melton, Charles Smith, and the Hunter Opry House Band.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at Baxley Church of God.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
