Ronald Davis

Ronald Davis, age 71, of Baxley died Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

Mr. Davis was born January 11, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Elvin Lawson Davis and the late Mary Emma Carter Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Davis was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was also a retired construction worker and farmer. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Davis and E. J. Davis.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Jane Davis of Baxley; daughters, Emily (Donald) Smith of Baxley and Amy (Cliff) Walker of Hazlehurst; sisters, Brenda (Jamie) Johnson and Linda (Lee) Jones both of Baxley; brothers, Dale (Evelyn) Davis, Jerry (Regina) Davis, Stanley (Taffy) Davis, and Jimmy Davis all of Baxley; grandchildren, Brandon Griffis, Ben Griffis, Grant Wilcox, Sarah Wilcox , Cam Smith, and a host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Davis will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral service to lie in state. Rev. Justin McLellan, Rev. J.E. Blanton, and Rev. Rick Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers are Brandon Griffis, Jeffrey Davis, Blake Davis, Josh Stone, Wren Johnson and Chris Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Sunday School Class of Riverside Baptist Church, Mr. J.L. Gay, Mrs. Jean Blanton, Mr. Tommy Youmans, Mr. Jerry Hallman, Mrs. Caroline Anderson and the staff of South Georgia Diagnostics.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
