Ronnie Junior “R.J.” Smith, age 67, of Hazlehurst who passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Baxley.
Mr. Smith was born on January 24, 1955 in Wayne, County and was a member of Big Oaks Church of God. He was a retired truck driver and was preceded in death by his father, Frank Smith; and brothers, Tony Smith, Paul Smith and Danny Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Kesha Latham of Baxley; sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Smith of Baxley, Ron (Sarah) Smith of Avon, IN and Robbie Smith of Waycross; mother, Betty Smith of Lumber City; sisters, Donna Jean Griffin of Hazlehurst, Vicky (Kenneth) Murray of New London, NC and Janet (Johnny) Burkett of Lumber City; brothers, Glenn (Pam) Smith of Mt. Vernon and Gary Smith of Lumber City; aunt, Sue Ann Simmons of Alma. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 3:30 pm from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Bishop Tim Fulmer, Rev. Alvin Merritt and Chris Nail officiating.
Interment will follow in Appling Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Carter, Daniel Smith, Brenton Smith, Dusty Herndon, Blair Latham and Kevin Mann.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
