Russell Homer Sharpe

Russell Homer Sharpe, age 59, of Baxley, GA died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Athens Regional Health System in Athens, GA.


Mr. Sharpe was born, August 30, 1954, in Baxley, GA to the late Homer Aaron and Mattie Ruth Sharpe. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Sharpe and his sister, Annette Sharpe Stone. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Mr. Sharpe was employed by Americord in Hazlehurst before retirement and enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables to share with his friends and neighbors.


Survivors include his son - Joshua Sharpe of Hazlehurst, GA; two sisters, Linda (Raymond) Beasley of Eatonton, GA and Juanita (David) Durrance of Roberta, GA; one sister-in-law, Jean Sharpe of Baxley, GA. Mr. Sharpe is also survived by several special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and family members.


Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Shumate and Rev. Ben Defore will officiate.


Interment will follow in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.


Active pallbearers are Mickey Morris, Earnest Dyal, Clifton Mincey, Winston Mincey, Byron Carter, Curtis Stone, Mike Todd, and Kenny Upchurch.


Honorary pallbearers are all friends in attendance.


Visitation will be Sunday evening, June 1, 2014, from 6 until 8 PM at Swain Funeral Home.


The family will assemble at the residence of Russell Sharpe 145 Sharpe Road Baxley, GA.
