Sarah Harleen Jones

December 1, 1938 — May 12, 2015

Sarah Harleen Collins Jones passed away on Tuesday, May 12th, 2015 at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest "Fuzzy" Jones, a daughter Jennifer Jones and a son Robby Jones. She is survived by one daughter Evette Jones of Mableton Georgia, two brothers Russell Collins of Jacksonville Florida and Ty Collins of Clarksville Georgia, several nieces, nephews and other loving extended family members.

She was born to Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Collins on December 1st, 1938. She was a native of Appling County and spent most of her life here. She was active in her community and Hopewell United Methodist Church for many years.

Harleen was known in her early years as being very competitive and was deeply invested in the Appling County Girls Basketball team, along with many of her classmates. This early learning propelled her to become a compassionate spirit and successful business woman.

She was an independent business woman owning several during her life. At the start of her career she was known for "bedazzling" long before its day, as the owner of Nicolett. In later years, she and her best friend Clara Aycock opened Esteen's Imports which was a local floral design firm that allowed these creative ladies an outlet to express their creativity. This successful venture continued 10 years after her planned retirement, helping her customers express their emotion through flowers.

She never met a stranger and had an uncanny way of making everyone feel at ease. Harleen believed in paying it forward and always put others before herself. She adored her family, friends and church. She was always smiling and had an infectious lovely laugh.

In November of 2014 after 57 years of marriage, Fuzzy passed away leaving Harleen with a void that could never be filled. 2015 for Harleen was to be a year of new beginnings with her personal mission to visit family and friends that she had not seen in years. Life doesn't always go as we plan. Her passing reminds us to live as she lived, like each day could be the last. She loved genuinely and served as a consistent positive influence for everyone around her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Swain Funeral Home Chapel at 4 pm on Thursday, May 14, with the Reverend Justin McLellan, Rev. Buddy Coss and eulogy by Stacy Bass. Visitation will be at 2:00 Thursday at Swain Funeral Home. A private family committal service will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church after the service.
