SGM (Ret.) Alvin D. (Pete) Lynn, 73, a resident of Midway, Georgia died April 21, 2021 after a brief illness at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
Pete was born August 18, 1947 in Brunswick, Georgia to Eddie L. Lynn and Mandy Faircloth. He married Deroma A. Latham, May 11, 1968 in Brunswick, Georgia.
He served his country in the United States Army for 23 years. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was stationed in Korea, Germany, and in various places throughout the continental United States. He held multiple jobs after his military retirement; however, the one thing he always carried with him was his love of family. He brought his troops and friends home for family meals and holidays. If someone’s family was far away they became family during that time. His greatest joy was feeding a large group of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Howard, Eddie, Lavelle, Milton, and Anne Woodall.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles L. Lynn of Brunswick and Buddy R. Lynn of Fort Gains, Georgia; his wife of 54 years, Deroma; sons, John David Lynn and Marcus Pete Lynn; four grandchildren, Nicole Clowers, Danielle Lynn, Hawkeye H. Lynn, and John W. Lynn; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 644 Bethel Church Road, Surrency, Georgia 31563.
