Sgt. Jamie Dominy

Sgt. James E. "Jamie" Dominy, age 61, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Appling Healthcare System.

Sgt. Dominy was born August 8, 1954 in Columbia, SC and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. In his 35 years as a Peace Officer, he served on the Appling County Sheriff's Department and the Baxley Police Department. Sgt. Dominy was a certified sniper and a former member of the S.W.A.T. team and was a firearms and tazer instructor. Sgt. Dominy was truly dedicated to his job and was a dedicated public servant. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Pete Dominy, and was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, & grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Dominy of Baxley, two daughters; Candice Summerall of Baxley and Jill Dominy Conley of Leesburg, GA; one son, Wesley Cole Dominy, four step-children; Tasha Oxendine of Baxley, Tabitha Buck of West Virginia, Joey Spell and Gregory Spell both of Baxley; his mother Mickey Dominy of Baxley, one sister; Teena Hicks of Brunswick, GA, three brothers; Melvin Dominy of Rincon, GA, Andy Dominy of Baxley, and Jimmie McCoy of Lawrenceville, GA. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Williamson and Rev. Brad Park officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Wayne Waldon, Terry Reynolds, Stephen Smith, James Robinson, Scotty Tanner, Anthony Tillman, and Dewayne Spearman.

Honorary pallbearers are Baxley Police Department and Appling County Sheriff's Department.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
