Shirley Kersey Disharoon

Shirley Kersey Disharoon, age 86, of Hazlehurst, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Disharoon was born on June 24, 1936 in Jeff Davis County to the late Willie Lee Kersey and the late Ettie Yawn Kersey.  She was a member of Macedonia Church of God and was a retired Dietitian at Chapman’s Nursing Home. Mrs. Disharoon was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Disharoon; granddaughter, Christy M. Wilcox; and son-in-law, Steve Williams.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Danny) Varnadore of Hazlehurst, Dorothy (Larry) Harper of Jesup, Sharon (Glenn) Lord of Graham and Linda Williams of Hazlehurst; sons, Danny (April) Disharoon and Jimmy (Sheryl) Disharoon both of Hazlehurst; sister, Rosenell Thomas of Columbus. Twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Colter officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Martin, Anthony, Justin, Brad, Stevie and Spencer.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
