Shirley Marie (Hench) Shope

Shirley Marie Hench Shope, age 87, of Hazlehurst passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Mrs. Shope was born August 26, 1936 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late George Hench and the late Esther Dahr Hench. She was a retired bookkeeper with Gold Line Drug Company. Mrs. Shope was a member of First Methodist Church of Hazlehurst and a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been a resident of the Pavilion for seven and a half years.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Larry) Hayes of Hazlehurst and Susan (Danny) Kirsic of Ellijay; son Kenneth Shope of Auburndale, Florida; brothers, James (Gail) Hench of Hazlehurst and David Hench of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
