Spencer Cecil Britt

Spencer Cecil Britt passed away on January 2, 2024, at the age of 73, at Jenkins County Medical Center in Millen, Georgia.

Spencer was born on November 22, 1950 in Alma to the late Cecil Thomas Britt and the late Opal Loretta Smith Britt.  Spencer was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections and was a member of Long Branch Church of God in Millen. He was an avid fan of Georgia Southern University Eagles, the University of Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons. Though he endured many hardships in this life, Spencer maintained his love and faith in Jesus Christ. He was a kindred spirit and loved to share the word of God. He loved the Lord and loved to sing. He was a member of The Visions Gospel Quartet for many years. Spencer was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather.  He had an infectiously funny personality and to know him was to love him.

Spencer was preceded in death by his sister, Eursly Britt, and brothers, Jerry and Carl Britt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sara Jo Britt of Millen; sons, Jeremy Spencer (Jennifer) Britt of Reidsville and Carlton Thomas (Stephanie) Britt of Statesboro; sisters, Josephine Britt Scott of Cleveland, TN and Bonnie Britt (Mike) Roberts of Jesup; and six grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Collins and Rev. Mike Roberts officiating.

Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Dennis Sapp, Lawrence Jarriel, Jacob Yarbrough, Wendell Powell, Dakota Britt, and Donnie Myers.

A visitation will be held Friday, one hour prior to the service, at Swain Funeral Home.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Thursday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Long Branch Church of God 5062 US 25 Garfield, Georgia 30425.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
