TERRY RANDALL CARTER, age 64, of Baxley, passed away on August 3, 2024 under the care of Coastal Hospice.
He was born in Folkston, GA on December 21, 1959, and grew up in St. Marys, GA, attending St. Marys Elementary School and Westside Baptist Church. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1978. He studied Structural Engineering at Florida Junior College in Jacksonville, FL and attended technical schools in Savannah, GA and Columbia, SC. Randall was known by several nicknames: “Cotton Top”, “RC”, “John Randall”, “Cornbread”, and “Boss.”
Randall was a construction superintendent with Copper Construction Co. in Vidalia for many years. He loved to farm, tinker on motors and old farm equipment, and fish.
Preceding him in death were his father, Welton Tim Carter; a brother, Welton Dwane Carter; and his grandparents, Emmett and Elizabeth Carter and David L. and Eula McKinney.
Survivors include his wife, Shelbie; a step-daughter, Lexi Hand (Steven); a step-son, Jonross Hand (Gracie); his mother, Hilda McKinney Carter; a sister, Nelda Henderson (Edward); a brother, McL Carter (Debby); nieces, Emily Daniels (Jeff) and Brittney Pine (John); nephews, Brandon Carter (Rachael) and Thomas Henderson (Brittany); two great-nieces; three great-nephews; aunts, Bonnie Carter and Betty Weaver; uncle, James Carter; and many cousins and friends who were all special to Randall.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Carter Cemetery, Baxley, GA. The graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Ryan Lamb and Rev. Stewart Reeves and the eulogy offered by Andy Page, with music by Glynda Reeves and Roy Williamson.
Pallbearers are Adam Craft, Jonross Hand, Steven Hurst, Duane Mabry, Ricky Mock and Jonathan Nesmith.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Appling County Food Bank or Coastal Hospice of Hazlehurst.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
