Vernon Andrew Garrett

Vernon Andrew Garrett, age 56, of Hazlehurst died Monday, July 13, 2015 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Garrett was born November 24, 1958 in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Roger Q. Mills Garrett and the late Essie Annie Cooner Garrett. He was a member of Amazing Grace Christian Fellowship and was a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and was employed by Worth Monument Company. He was preceded in death by a brother, S.L. Garrett.

Survivors include his fiance, Nikki Dykes of Hazlehurst; Two daughters, Theresa (Derrick) Overstreet of Surrency and Jessica (Scott) Toler of Hazlehurst; One son, Ron Dykes of Hazlehurst; Three sisters, Sarah Freytag of Hazlehurst, Sunday (Dolin) Carpenter of Elk Park, N.C. and Sue Powell of Hazlehurst; Three brothers, Roger (Sandy) Garrett of Ft. Myers, Florida, Billy Garrett of West Palm Beach, Florida and Leo Garrett of Hazlehurst; Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchildren and a host nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Steve Toler officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 5-7 pm, at 59 Tyler Lane, Hazlehurst, Ga.

Active pallbearers will be Derrick Overstreet, Jason Lolies, Harlan Hamby, Jody Stone, Timothy Hudson and Tracy Powell.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
