Vernon "Mac" McDaniel, age 91, of Surrency died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at The Pavilion.
Mr. McDaniel was born September 22, 1925 to the late W. Clarence McDaniel and the late Edna Martin McDaniel and was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He raised livestock and assisted Mr. Paschol Pearce with farming for many years and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by three brothers, Aldon McDaniel, Waymon McDaniel, and Edwin McDaniel.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law Earl D. and Fannie M. McDaniel; three nieces, Cathy M. Campbell, Angela M. Morris, and Dawn M. Kalish; and one nephew, Chadwick G. McDaniel. Several great nieces and one great nephew also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Daniels and Mr. Doyle Tillman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chadwick G. McDaniel, David C. Campbell, Joffre Morris, Bret Campbell, Paschol Pearce, and Randy Livingston.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tonya Fordham, the nursing staff of The Pavilion, Sheriff Benny Deloach, Larry Boatright, Henry Youngblood, David Eason, Doyle Tillman, Stanley Tillman, Homer Ware, Orby Lamb, Dennis Lamb, Betty Livingston, Francis Martin Daniels, Larry Devereaux, and his B & F Restaurant friends.
Visitation will be Friday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
