Ms. Veronica Jones Carter, age 81, of Lexington, North Carolina died Friday, May 20, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Ms. Carter was born September 28, 1940 in Appling County to the late Odis Jones and the late Willie Mae Courson Jones Webb. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welcome, North Carolina and was retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her sister, Voncile Lightsey; two brothers, John Willie Jones, and Clifton Jones, and a step-father, Herman Webb.
Survivors include her children, Tera (Mike) Davis, Gary (Penny) Carter, David (Laura) Carter, Darren Carter and Stacey (Sheryl) Carter all of Lexington, North Carolina, and their father Earnest “PeeWee” Carter; a sister, Elmira Bass of Baxley; brother-in-law, Richard “Squeak” Lightsey of Baxley. Ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ross Taylor, Rodney Taylor, Richie Lightsey, Doug Bass, Andy Jones, and Dustin Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be all family and friends in attendance.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
