Weldon Schell, age 83, of Hazlehurst passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his residence under the care of Coastal Hospice.
Mr. Schell was born January 5, 1941 in Jeff Davis County to the late Robert Wyatt Schell and the late Barnell Elkins Schell. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church since 1957 and served on the Hospitality Committee, as a Trustee, Church Training Director, Sunday School Superintendent, Head Usher and was the choir leader for a season. Mr. Schell was a Boy Scout leader and a former vice-president of the Jeff Davis Exchange Club. He was a supporter of Celebrate Recovery and an avid fisherman and gardener. He was also a huge Nascar fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Schell, and a brother, Wendell Schell.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Schell of Hazlehurst; daughters, Tammy Schell of Douglas, Karla (Jack) Chaney of Hazlehurst, and Allyson (Brody) Cauley of Baxley; sons, Greg (Carolyn) Schell of Hazlehurst, Ronnie (Vickie) Haskin of Humansville, MO, and Ray Haskin of Baxley; sisters, Sharon (Joe) Yawn and Sandra Nelson both of Hazlehurst; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Herrington, Rev. Jack Chaney, and Rev. Jeffery Spell officiating. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Don Rollins, Riley Belcher, Shawn Rowland, Jamie Smith, Michael Campbell, and Josh Carlo.
Honorary pallbearers will be The Agape & Charity Sunday School Classes of Southside Baptist Church and Wilton Miles.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
