Wendel Roger Cain, age 65, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Hospice Savannah after an extended illness.
Mr. Cain was born December 6, 1951 in Jeff Davis County and grew up in Appling County and was currently residing in Rincon with his brother, Wade. He graduated from Appling County High School in 1969 and served his country in the National Guard. Mr. Cain was a retired brick masonry contractor and iron worker.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Berna Deen Graham Cain.
Mr. Cain is survived by his twin brother, Wade Cain of Rincon; his father, Samuel “Buddy” Cain of Baxley; and his daughter, Julie Cain Stone of Baxley; grandchildren, Karlee Lastinger and Chase Stone; and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and a close family friend, Nina Wigley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 31st at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with visitation to be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Sister Veronica Kovach, of Sisters of Mercy, will officiate the funeral service; she was of much comfort to him in the extended time he spent at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
A private interment will be held at a later date at Zoar Cemetery.
The family requests remembrances to Sisters of Mercy (Mid-Atlantic Community Administrative Office 515 Montgomery Ave. Merion, PA 19066).
