Winton P. Roberson

Winton P. Roberson, age 92, of Vidalia passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Roberson was born September 11, 1931 in Appling County to the late Herman Pearson Roberson and the late Bessie Coursey Roberson.  He was a member of Smith Street Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Roberson enjoyed recounting the history of Appling County and telling of his days in the Air Force.  He was an avid fisherman and loved supporting and attending any sporting events in which his grandchildren were involved.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Bush Roberson, and a brother, Robbie Roberson.

Survivors include his daughter, Gail (Shan) Venable of Vidalia; son, Michael P. Roberson of Vidalia; sister-in-law, Rhoda Roberson of Baxley; grandchildren, John (Haley) Allmond of Macon and Kirby (Margaret Anne) Allmond of Swainsboro and one great grandchild, Emerson Allmond. Several nieces and nephews and his beloved friend, Cain, also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Gady Youmans officiating. Interment will follow in Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers are Randy Roberson, Max Roberson, Jordan Vaughn, Jake Britt, John Allmond and Kirby Allmond.
